Ray Rice does not deserve to play another down in the NFL ever again.
Rice is currently serving a two-game suspension for a domestic abuse case, which stemmed from footage of him dragging his unconscious fiancée, Janay Palmer, across a Atlantic City casino lobby.
However, new footage from the same evening has surfaced that is truly disgusting.
Cameras from inside the elevator show the events that led up to the incident, and if Roger Goodell has any good sense in him, he’ll not only suspend Rice for the rest of the season, but he should mull a lifetime ban as well.
The 27-year-old Ravens running back enters the elevator with Palmer when words are exchanged and he strikes her once. Janay then steps forward toward Rice and he hits her with a knockout punch across the face, sending her to the floor.
Ray Rice caught a lot of flack for getting off too easy, especially with players like Josh Gordon getting year-long suspensions for marijuana use, but hopefully footage like this will overrule any decision made in the past.
The NFL revised its domestic abuse policy on August 28, with a first offense now bringing a six-game suspension and a lifetime suspension coming to players who offend a second time. It will be interesting to see how this case is handled, since the new evidence stems from the same offense.
We’re hoping Goodell makes an exception here. This POS does not deserve to play in the NFL.
